Why teens shouldnt drink

The national center on disease and substance abuse says that 80 percent of high school students have tried Alcohol.  For some of you this may be a shocker. But on the other hand for me this is no surprise. Growing up in a small down were High School kids new college kids it was very easy for them to get alcohol and to have parties with it.  It seemed like every weekend there was something going on where there was going to be alcohol involved.  Many kids would give into the peer presser and go drink and have fun. That sounds all good but when you have immature teenagers with alcohol that doesn’t lead to good things.  I remember in high school there must have been five driving while intoxicated (DWI), and also at least ten Miner in Possession (MIP). This may be also an alarming number but it was just the live style for me in High School I was around it all the time. But unlike most I didn’t give in to the peer pressure. It was not only good parenting but also I knew what alcohol does to the body.  First off when you start drinking it can alter your mood, behavior or even your vision and hearing. Then once you start to drink more and more your brain starts you change and it become intoxicated. This isn’t good for a teen’s brain that is still developing. This was one of the reasons I didn’t drink when I was in high school. The next reason I didn’t drink and you shouldn’t either is if you’re an athlete and your trying to build muscle.  The first reason why it affects your muscles is that alcohol in excess slows down your protein synthesis by twenty percent. The next reason is that alcohol increases your estrogen levels and decreases your testosterone levels. Which in lifting and gaining muscle is a bad thing because testosterone is one of the biggest parts including protein of how your muscles get bigger and stronger? Also alcohol causes dehydrations which are bad for any athlete because it could cause you to get craps or even pass out.  The next reason is that it depletes your vitamin and mineral content in your body. These are very essential in building muscles so without them you’re not going to get great gains. The last reason is why alcohol is bad if you’re an athlete and trying to gain muscle is that it increases fat storage.  This is where the joke of Beer belly comes from because when someone drinks a lot of beer the mid section gets bigger from the beer increasing their fat storage. Finally the last reason why I didn’t drink in High school and you shouldn’t either is because of all the money you spend on fines if you have to pay if you are hit with a DWI, DUI or even A MIP. The ticket can range from 200 dollars up to 3000 dollars and I just didn’t have that kind of cash lying around. These are some of the reasons why I dint drink in High school and other teens shouldn’t either.
